Nashik Civic Body Adds 30,000 New Properties to Tax Net, Expects ₹15 Crore Annual Revenue

The Nashik Municipal Corporation has brought approximately 30,000 new properties under the tax net for the current financial year through field surveys, pushing the total registered properties above 6 lakh. Retrospective assessment covering at least two previous financial years has generated an additional ₹30 crore.

Nashik, March 5, 2026: The civic body has brought in around 30,000 new properties under the tax net for the current financial year. The total number of registered properties under the Nashik Municipal Corporation has now gone above 6 lakh .
 

According to a civic official, property tax has been levied on these newly identified properties from the current fiscal. "In addition, owners of these properties were asked to pay tax for a minimum of previous two financial years or from the year in which construction of the property began," the official said .
 

Revenue Generation

"This retrospective assessment has helped the NMC generate an additional ₹30 crore for the past two years. With these properties now brought under the formal tax system, the civic body expects to earn an additional ₹15 crore every year from these new units," the official added .
 

Survey and Identification Process

The NMC has been conducting field surveys to locate properties that were occupied or in use but had never been assessed for taxation. Teams from the property tax department have been visiting different localities to identify unregistered constructions and bring them under the tax ambit .

This initiative is part of the civic body's ongoing efforts to expand the tax base and ensure that all properties within its jurisdiction contribute to municipal revenues, which fund essential services and infrastructure development across the city .
