Lucknow, March 16, 2026: Thousands of families in Uttar Pradesh have received major relief under the PM Awas Yojana Urban 2.0. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath released the first installment for approximately 90,000 eligible beneficiaries to build their homes. The government has transferred this amount directly to the beneficiaries' bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer, ensuring the scheme's money reaches people without any intermediaries .

First Installment Details

The first installment released provides ₹1 lakh to each eligible beneficiary. Under PMAY-U 2.0, each beneficiary receives total assistance of ₹2.50 lakh, with ₹1.5 lakh contributed by the central government and ₹1 lakh by the state government. This amount is given in three installments rather than all at once. After receiving the first installment, beneficiaries can begin construction work on their homes .

Scheme Objective

The PM Awas Yojana Urban 2.0 is considered a major scheme for economically weaker families living in urban areas. The government's goal is to ensure that no family in the country remains without a pucca house. The recently released amount of approximately ₹900 crore could prove to be a new beginning for thousands of families. Certificate Distribution and Interaction

During the program, the Chief Minister symbolically handed over housing approval certificates to about 20 beneficiaries. Additionally, the Chief Minister interacted with beneficiaries from Fatehpur, Gorakhpur, Prayagraj, Saharanpur, Maharajganj, and Deoria through video conferencing. During this, he gathered information about the benefits received from the scheme and people's experiences .

The government stated that such dialogue helps understand the actual status of the scheme and the needs of beneficiaries. A special program was organized in Lucknow to release the first installment of this scheme, held at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan from around 4:30 PM. About 1,500 beneficiaries from Lucknow and Ayodhya divisions were directly present at the program, while thousands of beneficiaries from other districts of the state joined through video conferencing .

  3. Enter your Aadhaar number or application ID

  4. Login using your mobile number

  5. Your PMAY-U 2.0 installment status will be displayed on the screen

Through this process, beneficiaries can easily find out whether their installment has been released or not.

Relief for Poor and Middle Class

The government has also ensured that the entire process remains transparent and corruption-free. Therefore, money is being sent directly to beneficiaries' bank accounts through DBT. This will ensure that the scheme's benefits reach the right people on time .
