Sonipat: Record 1,200 Property Registrations in Two Days Ahead of Circle Rate Hike from April 1

Sonipat, March 31: The proposed increase in circle rates from April 1 has created panic among property buyers in Sonipat. Over the past two days, more than 1,200 registrations were recorded across various tehsils in the district, setting a new record.

The district revenue department has prepared a draft proposing a 15 to 75 per cent hike in circle rates across different areas. The draft has been uploaded on the public portal. Areas that have recently seen major infrastructure projects or highway construction are expected to see the highest increases, with rates potentially rising up to 75 per cent.

Impact on Middle-Class Buyers

Market experts believe that if a 75 per cent hike is implemented, buying property or investing in land will become a dream for middle-class families. Fearing the sharp increase in land prices, people are rushing to complete their registrations at the existing rates.

Tehsils Working Overtime

The sudden surge in registrations has forced tehsil administrations to work extra hours. Document writers and advocates are struggling to find space in the crowded offices. Employees have been working late evenings for the past two days.

On Monday, the server remained down for some time, causing a temporary disruption. However, work resumed shortly after. People were still standing in line until 7:30 PM to get their registrations done.
