New Delhi, May 15: Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan launched Grih Pravesh of 5 lakh PMAY-G homes in Maharashtra and approved ₹8,368 crore mother sanction for rural housing plus PMGSY road projects.

3 Crore Rural Homes Milestone

The programme will be held at Sainik School Ground in the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Ajit Pawar. During the event, the Union Minister will hand over house keys to six beneficiaries, including one linked to the completion of the 3-croreth PMAY-G house, marking a historic milestone in rural housing delivery.

PMAY-G Progress and Mother Sanction

The Government of India has allocated a cumulative target of 4.15 crore houses under PMAY-G across states. As of May 11, 2026, 3.91 crore houses have been sanctioned and over 3.03 crore houses completed nationwide. A major highlight will be the issuance of PMAY-G Mother Sanction worth ₹8,368.50 crore as central assistance for Maharashtra for FY 2026-27.

Maharashtra's Performance

Maharashtra's target under PMAY-G is 43.80 lakh houses. The state has sanctioned 41.42 lakh houses and completed 17.92 lakh houses. In Satara district, out of a target of 55,052 houses, 54,759 have been sanctioned and 24,848 completed.

PMGSY-IV Road Projects

The event will also see approval of 35 road projects under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) – Phase IV, covering 95.99 km total road length with an investment of ₹122.98 crore, benefiting 35 rural habitations. Maharashtra has already sanctioned over 34,000 km of rural roads, built more than 1,000 bridges, and invested over ₹15,000 crore under PMGSY. State-level awards under Maha Awaas Abhiyan 2023-24 will also be presented.
