Joint Panels to Speed Up Pending Nashik Smart City Projects Worth Over ₹700 Crore

Nashik, April 28: The move comes after the Centre decided not to extend the Smart City Mission beyond December 2025.
Pending Projects (Total over ₹700 crore)

Integrated CCTV surveillance system and other smart components: ₹371 crore (Kumbh Mela-linked)

City Network Backbone (optical fibre cable laying): ₹128 crore (Kumbh Mela-linked)

Water treatment plant capacity augmentation: ₹102 crore

Desilting project (mechanical gate in Godavari river): ₹9.61 crore

Implementation
As per the state government resolution, five projects remain incomplete and are now to be executed by the civic body. Separate committees will be formed for each project to improve coordination and speed up execution.
Staff Continuity
Municipal Commissioner Manisha Khatri said: "The Smart City Corporation staff will not be relieved immediately and will be retained for the next 6 months to help complete the projects. The staff is familiar with project details and certain Smart City works are under litigation. While the Smart City Corporation's CEO will be relieved, the remaining staff will continue until all ongoing works are completed within timelines."
