Residents of Karnataka Housing Board Amargol Phase 2 Colony have secured a court order compelling the board to pay ₹8 crore to the Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation for essential amenities.

Hubballi, April 23: Residents had submitted a petition to the Taluk Legal Services Authority seeking amenities in their colony.

Background

KHB had earlier approached HDMC to take over the colony. After a joint survey to check facilities, HDMC asked KHB to pay ₹11 crore for the handover. KHB claimed it was unable to pay the amount.

Court Order

After residents moved court, the court directed KHB officials to pay ₹8 crore to HDMC for colony development, with payment to be made within one month.

Resident's Statement

Mrutunjay Matti, a resident of KHB Amargol, said: "We have submitted a petition, along with the TOI report, to the court, and finally we got justice. As soon as the colony is handed over to the corporation, the latter should start development works like roads, drainage, drinking water, streetlights and others."

Official Statement

KHB Executive Engineer said: "The court has directed the board to pay ₹8 crore to the corporation within a month. We received the order last week. The process of handover will start soon."
