  • Concessions and incentives for buildings that voluntarily install rainwater harvesting systems

  • All government buildings and offices must have functional systems before monsoon onset

Penalties & Incentives

  • Non-functional systems: Heavy fines

  • Voluntary installation: Possible property tax incentives

Previous Drive (2019)

  • Over 60 buildings identified with non-functional systems

  • Fines of ₹1,000 imposed on each

  • Drive suspended for over two years due to Covid-19 (2020-2021)

Environmental Perspective

Environmental activist Rajesh Pandit said: "Last year, the monsoon began in May and continued till October-end. Despite good rainfall, the civic body had to deploy water tankers across the city. This highlights the importance of properly using rainwater harvesting systems to recharge groundwater."
