About 2,000 Notices Issued Over Stilt Area Coverage Violations in Gurugram, HC Informed

Chandigarh, May 5: The Haryana government on Monday informed the Punjab and Haryana High Court that authorities in Gurugram had issued nearly 2,000 notices for illegally covering stilt areas, and around 500 restoration orders had been passed.

Policy Background

The submission was made during the resumed hearing of a case where the court had earlier restrained the Haryana government from implementing the controversial 'stilt plus four floor policy' for residential plots in Gurugram under a notification dated July 2, 2024.

Current Status

Petitioners' counsels concluded their arguments, and the bench indicated that the case reached final adjudication. The court clarified that the entire policy would remain subject to the outcome of the ongoing public interest litigation.

Panchkula Application

The bench declined to extend the stay on the policy to Panchkula while hearing a separate application. The court noted that the impact of the policy across Haryana is already under detailed scrutiny.

Next Hearing

The matter is scheduled for the next hearing on May 12.
