Gurugram, April 21: Hearing the contempt petition on April 17, a bench of Justices JB Pardiwala and Vijay Bishnoi condoned delay in filing the petition and directed respondents to submit their replies by May 7, 2026.

Background: December 2024 SC Judgment

The judgment laid down a framework for regulating building construction and ensuring compliance with sanctioned plans:

  • Completion or occupation certificates must be obtained before providing essential civic services (electricity, water supply, sewerage connections)

  • Permission for commercial activities should not be granted in buildings that do not conform to approved plans

Petitioner's Allegations

The company referred to a 1.39-acre land parcel in Chakkarpur village, Gurgaon. After the December 2024 judgment, it submitted representations seeking action in accordance with the court's directions. Notices were issued for enforcement, but no response was received.
