Nagpur, April 15: The civic body has so far collected ₹252.66 crore , a sharp drop from ₹306 crore collected in 2024-25 (when it achieved 94% of its ₹325 crore target).

  • Property owners who paid: 4,60,094

  • Defaulters/outside tax net: 3,76,842 properties (approx. 45%)

  • Initial target: ₹350 crore

  • Revised target: ₹400 crore

  • Actual collection: ₹252.66 crore

Reason for Shortfall

Officials attribute part of the slowdown to the civic election cycle , which disrupted routine recovery operations during peak collection months. In December and January, most zonal teams were diverted towards election preparedness.

  • January 2024 collection: ~₹30 crore

  • January 2025 collection: ₹6 crore (drastic drop)
