Belagavi, April 15: Under the scheme, fully serviced layouts with complete infrastructure will be created and residential sites allotted to SC/ST people across the state.

Pilot Project

  • Initial pilot area: 1,000 acres

  • Grant: ~20 crore from SCP/TSP scheme

  • First such experiment in the country

Key Features

  • Fully serviced layouts with complete infrastructure (private model)

  • PWD role: Only develop plots on allotted land and hand over to panchayats/urban local bodies

  • Beneficiary selection: By respective gram panchayats and local bodies (PWD has no role in selection or allocation)

Background

Public Works Minister Satish Jarkiholi explained that for about 20 years, sites have been allotted to SC/ST communities, but the necessary infrastructure was not provided. This scheme addresses that gap.
