Lucknow: House Tax Deposit from April 6, 10% Discount Till June 30

The Lucknow Municipal Corporation has started the process of house tax collection for the new financial year. Property owners who deposit their tax before June 30 will get a discount of up to 10 per cent.

Lucknow, April 6: The Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) has begun house tax collection for the new financial year from Monday. Property owners who deposit their house tax before June 30 will receive a discount of up to 10 per cent.

Outstanding Dues

Property owners who did not deposit house tax in the previous financial year can now pay with 12 per cent interest. More than 2 lakh property owners have outstanding dues from the last financial year.

Who Gets Exemption?

Full Exemption (No House Tax)

  • Central/state government employees working in LMC (if they own only one house and live in it)

  • Bharat Ratna awardees

  • Police personnel/officers with President's Gallantry Medal

  • Arjuna Award winners

  • Freedom fighters, their widows and dependents

  • Param Vir Chakra and Ashok Chakra awardees (ex-servicemen and their widows/dependents)

50% Exemption

  • National-level journalists, scientists, and sportspersons

  • Persons with 50% to 80% disability

100% Exemption

  • Persons with 80% to 100% disability

Special Discount

Property owners with Annual Rental Value (ARV) up to ₹900 will get an additional 5 per cent discount on house tax.

Transfer Fee

The house tax transfer fee (naming) can also be deposited from Monday onwards.

Official Statement

Ashok Singh, Chief Tax Assessment Officer of the Municipal Corporation, said: "NIC has updated the software for house tax according to the new financial year. House tax deposit work will start from Monday. Property owners eligible for exemptions under the Municipal Corporation Act and the proposal passed in the house will receive their applicable exemptions."
