A dozen MHADA layouts spread over 923 acres across the city will be undergoing redevelopment in the coming years, enabling the rehabilitation of 75,445 residents.

Mumbai, April 18: The rehabilitation will happen in 5-10 years after construction begins, said Sanjeev Jaiswal, Vice-President and CEO of MHADA.

Key Updates

  • Charkop & Gorai layouts: Redevelopment proposals will shortly be placed before the state cabinet for approval

Rental Housing Push

The government, under the state housing policy, 2025 , is looking to push for rental housing. A presentation has been made before the government, certain amendments in the Act have been proposed, and a state rental housing portal is being set up.

Implementation

All redevelopment will be carried out through the construction and development agency, while MHADA will be the special planning authority.
