The Chhattisgarh cabinet has approved a 50 per cent reduction in land registration charges for properties registered in the name of women, aiming to promote property ownership and economic empowerment among them.

Raipur, April 16: The decision was taken during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai.

Key Decisions

For Women

  • 50% reduction in land registration charges for properties registered in women's names

  • Revenue loss to state exchequer: ~₹153 crore (but regarded as significant step for women's empowerment)

For Defence Personnel, Ex-Servicemen & Their Widows

  • 25% concession in stamp duty on property purchase worth up to ₹25 lakh within the state

  • Applicable once in a lifetime

  • Provides financial relief to defence personnel facing frequent transfers

Sand Mining Rules

  • Amendments to Chhattisgarh Minor Minerals Ordinary Sand (Mining and Trade) Rules, 2025

  • Sand mines may now be reserved for PSUs (central or state government)
