Koraput, April 24: The administration has identified around 244 acres of land across three villages for acquisition.

Current Status

  • Operational since: October 31, 2022 (under UDAN scheme)

  • Current operations: Two nine-seater flights daily (Bhubaneswar-Jeypore) + one daily (Jeypore-Visakhapatnam)

  • Runway length: 1,200 metres (existing)

Upgrade Details (Category 3C)

  • Land to be acquired: ~244 acres (including ~50 acres of government land)

  • New runway length: 2,700 metres

  • Aircraft capacity: 72-seater aircraft

  • Operations: 24/7 (without runway visual range limitations)

  • Feasibility report: Submitted by AAI in August 2024

Timeline

  • Detailed land schedule sent to government for notification

  • Work to begin once land is handed over
