Ganga Expressway Inaugurated: Meerut to Prayagraj Now in Just 6 Hours

New Delhi/Lucknow, April 29, 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Ganga Expressway, the longest expressway in Uttar Pradesh, marking a major boost to the state’s infrastructure.
Stretching 594 km, the high-speed corridor will significantly reduce travel time between Meerut and Prayagraj from around 11–12 hours to just 6 hours, offering faster and more efficient connectivity.

Boost to Connectivity and Economy
The expressway will connect western and eastern Uttar Pradesh, improving movement of goods and people. It is expected to reduce logistics costs and enhance ease of doing business by enabling faster transport of agricultural and industrial products.

Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister described the project as a “new lifeline of development” for the state, stating that it will create opportunities in industry, agriculture and employment.
