Bengaluru, April 27: Users can log in to the portal, authenticate via OTP, enter their SAS ID, and generate the e-khata within minutes. The system also sends download links automatically via SMS and WhatsApp to registered mobile numbers.

Why This Matters

A valid khata is essential for:

  • Paying property tax

  • Securing loans

  • Carrying out transactions such as sale, transfer, or mortgage

Official Statement

GBA Chief Commissioner M Maheshwar Rao said the initiative was aimed at eliminating "red tape" and ensuring access to records anytime, anywhere. It is also expected to reduce reliance on middlemen and curb corruption.

Important Note

Officials clarified that these e-khatas are issued on an "as-is-where-is" basis and remain provisional. Property owners must complete the following for full legal validity:

  • Aadhaar-based e-KYC

  • Update sale deed details

  • Add GPS-tagged data

  • Link Bescom services
